As we get older, we learn new things and improve at what we do.  This is pretty much one of the reasons this blog was created, to see my growth as an artist.  Lucky for me, I’ve kept a few files from a few years back.

During Christmas break in my junior year (2008), I decided to try the self-portrait project myself.  Now keep in mind, I had absolutely no experience with what I was getting myself into.  I had Photoshop 7, and a short guide I found on the web on how to stroke and fill paths.  That’s about all I knew.

This was what I created.  I know it’s awful, but back then I thought it was really good.  2 months later, I made another attempt, which was better than the previous one.

Roughly 10 months later (2009) from my first attempt, and I finally had a chance to properly try again with the right tools and skills.  Without a doubt it outclasses the previous two significantly.

Now it’s 2010, a fresh new year and I’m anxious to see what I’ll be able to produce.  I’ve set the bar for myself, time to raise it again.
